Course Summary
We follow the AQA specification which will be studied in the 2 year linear format with exams at the end of Year 13.
Psychology is the study of our human behaviours, the science of the mind and the way to answer questions such as ‘Can our entire memory of an event be changed after hearing one leading word?’ If you have ever wondered what it would take to make you electrocute someone, or whether TV really is to blame for your attitude, then Psychology has the answers.
Course Details
Throughout the A-Level you will study the five main approaches to psychological research, as well as exploring the different methodologies used. You will explore the issues of objectivity and subjectivity and develop the ability to evaluate (and justify) research that is unethical, reductionist, determinist.
Later you will study some of the key themes in Psychology through learning about classic and contemporary studies in a range of topics such as Memory, Social Influence, Attachment, Forensic Psychology and many more. You will also follow a compulsory section on the issues surrounding mental health and the body’s physiological reaction to certain situations.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
All assessment will take place at the end of the course involving three papers each taking 2 hours to complete.
