Course Summary
This course draws upon your understanding of the contemporary world and it is therefore advisable to take an interest in current affairs and social issues in general. Analytical skills, a high level of literacy and skills in extended writing are necessary for this subject.
Course Details
• Paper 1: Education with Theory and Methods
• Paper 2: Topics in Sociology (Families & Households, Beliefs in Society)
• Paper 3: Crime and Deviance with Theory and Methods
How will it be delivered and assessed?
The 3 units of study will be assessed by 3 external examinations at A Level.
Each written exam lasts for 2 hours and is worth 33.3% of the final grade.
Exams will involve extended essay writing.
There is no coursework component.
Entry requirements
Grade 4 in Sociology OR Grade 4 in English if new to subject.

This level 3 qualification provides a basis for progression to University to study at Degree level. Sociology complements study alongside a wide range of other A level options.
