Entry Requirements: - Admission to Towers Sixth Form to study A levels or BTEC equivalent will be awarded on the basis of GCSE performance. Each subject has its own entry requirements.

Course Summary
The BTEC in Sports and Physical Activity is perfect for students who have passion for sport and would like to develop a deeper understanding of the body systems and how the body operates. The course is a mixture of coursework, externally assessed exams and practical lessons and this means that the workload is balanced across the two-year course.
Course Details
During the two years, you will develop key knowledge in topics such as Anatomy & Physiology, Sports Organisation, Practical Skills and Organisation of Sports Events. In addition to this, as a Sixth Form sport student you will also have a key role in Towers Sports Day in July of Year 12. The topics and experience gained in this subject are designed to support both students who wish to work in the sporting sector and students who wish to enter the medical sector.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Year 1: In Year 1, you will complete an exam unit and a coursework unit.
- Exam: Body systems and the effects of physical activity
- Coursework: Sports Coaching and Activity Leadership
Year 2: In Year 2, you will complete 1 exam unit and 2 coursework units
- Exam: Sports Organisation and Development
- Coursework 1: Practical Skills in Sport and Physical Activities
- Coursework 2: Organisation of Sports Events
Entry requirements
3-5 GCSEs Grade 4 or above including English or Maths and Science and a strong interest in sport.

This qualification is ideal for students who wish to enter the sport sector, events sector or medical sector. To successfully complete a BTEC, you will learn to meet deadlines, work autonomously, complete long-term projects and improve your teamwork skills – these are vital skills in all workplaces.
Previous students have gone on to study BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science and BA (Hons) Football Business. They have also gone on to complete engineering and banking apprenticeships and as well as securing full time for local firms.
