Course Summary
This programme offers hands-on experience and foundational knowledge for maintaining machinery and equipment in various industries. Apprentices will gain skills in fault diagnosis, routine servicing, and repairing mechanical and electrical systems through a mix of classroom instruction and on-the-job training.
Completing the apprenticeship provides a recognized qualification and opens doors for career advancement in the engineering sector. It includes a Level 2 Diploma in Engineering Operations (Knowledge) and a Level 2 Diploma in Engineering Operations (Skills).
The End Point Assessment (EPA) for a Level 2 Engineering Operative Apprenticeship is designed to verify the apprentices' skills, knowledge, and behaviours. This assessment involves a practical evaluation where apprentices demonstrate their competencies in a work environment, using tools and adhering to safety protocols. Additionally, there is a professional discussion component, where apprentices reflect on their learning experiences and their understanding of the industry.

Entry requirements
To apply for the Level 2 Engineering Operatives (Mechanical Machinist) Apprenticeship, candidates must:
Secure employment: Have an employer in place who is committed to supporting them throughout the apprenticeship.
Work hours: Be employed full-time, working a minimum of 30 hours per week, and be on the company?s PAYE scheme.
Educational qualifications: Ideally hold a minimum of 3 GCSEs at grade 3/D or above (or equivalent). If candidates do not hold maths and English at grade 4/C or above, they will be required to complete Functional Skills qualifications alongside their apprenticeship.
Pre-employment checks: Successfully complete a scope of work review to ensure your job role aligns with the apprenticeship requirements, a skills scan, and initial assessments in maths and English.
