This carpentry and joinery apprenticeship gives you the opportunity to learn carpentry skills, earn a wage, and gain valuable work experience in the industry. You will be employed by a carpenter or building contractor and work alongside an experienced tradesperson to develop and practise your skills. During the 24 months duration of the course the apprentice, employer and college will work together to ensure that the apprentice is demonstrating the required Knowledge Skills and Behaviours (KSB) Before taking their final assessments Apprentices will cover the following topics training topics: - Health and safety - Principles of construction - First fix - Second Fix - Structural Carcassing - Maintenance - Power tools The End Point Assessment consists of three separate tests: - Multiple Choice Knowledge test - Professional discussion - Practical test In addition the apprentice will be required to produce a portfolio of work based evidence and this will be used for the professional discussion and must be working towards level 2 in Maths and English.

To apply for the Level 2 Site Carpentry Apprenticeship, candidates must: Secure employment: Have an employer in place who is committed to supporting them throughout the apprenticeship. Work hours: Be employed full-time, working a minimum of 30 hours per week, and be on the company?s PAYE scheme. Educational qualifications: Ideally hold a minimum of 3 GCSEs at grade 3/D or above (or equivalent). If candidates do not hold maths and English at grade 4/C or above, they will be required to complete Functional Skills qualifications alongside their apprenticeship. Pre-employment checks: Successfully complete a scope of work review to ensure your job role aligns with the apprenticeship requirements, a skills scan, and initial assessments in maths and English.

By the time you complete the apprenticeship, you?ll have the skills and knowledge you need to move forward in the construction industry. The hands-on experience you gain along the way opens doors to further opportunities - whether that?s stepping up to a Level 3 apprenticeship or moving into more specialised roles within the field. With real-world experience under your belt and a recognised qualification to back it up, you'll be in a strong position to take on whatever comes next in site carpentry.
