Course Summary

Equip yourself with the cutting-edge skills, knowledge and industry experience needed to start your journey in a range of creative tech jobs.

During the two-year programme, you will gain the skills and knowledge needed to build a career in the computing industry. You will also complete an exciting 45-day work placement with a local employer.

T Levels are designed for students aged 16–19 and is equivalent to three A levels.

Course Details

Learn relevant skills in digital production, computer design and software development, as well as employability and communication skills.

In Year One, you study core units covering a range of topics such as:

  • Emerging technical trends
  • Impact of technology on businesses
  • Using data in software design
  • Planning digital projects
  • Designing software
  • Digital environments

In Year Two, you study a specialism, whilst advancing your skills and knowledge needed to complete your specialist project.

In your work experience, you will develop transferrable technical and practical skills based on the knowledge gained in College. This gives you opportunity to use your skills in a realistic working environment.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

T Levels are assessed through a combination of exams, coursework, specialist projects, and completion of your industry placement. The exams take place at the end of each year and test the skills you have learnt so far.

Entry requirements

This study programme is designed to help you move quickly toward advanced jobs, higher education, or apprenticeship opportunities if you know what you want to do next and meet the entry requirements needed for success. Achieving a Level 3 qualification will improve your future earning potential and career choices. It also allows you to progress to Higher Education, Higher Apprenticeships, and Degree Apprenticeships. These can lead to roles like advanced technician or skilled supervisor at Level 3, and eventually to management or professional status as you continue your studies. To study at Level 3, including all T Level and A Level programmes, you will need an average entry score of 5.0 from your best 6 GCSE subjects, ideally including English and Maths.

You can progress into a wide range of opportunities after a T Level course. These include, starting your career in a wide number of IT jobs, moving into a degree apprenticeship or attending university to continue your studies.
