Entry Requirements - Generally, in order to study Level 3 courses you must have achieved a minimum of five GCSE passes at grades 9 – 4, including English and maths at a grade 4 or above, or a Level 2 Pass in a relevant vocational qualification. Some A Level courses require you to have achieved specific grades in either that subject, English or maths.

For Level 2 courses you will need to achieve 3 GCSEs at grade 3 or above. Both English and maths must be at grade 2 or above.

Course Summary

The Extended Project will develop and extend from one or more of the learner’s study areas and/or from an area of personal interest or activity outside their main

programme of study. It will be based on a topic chosen by the learner(s) and agreed as appropriate by the centre.

Delivery of the Extended Project Qualification in centres will involve some teaching of the necessary skills, supervision and assessment of the learner’s progress. It will involve extended autonomous work by the learner.

Course Details

Learners are required to:

• Choose an area of interest

• Draft a title and aims of the project for formal approval by the centre

• Plan, research and carry out the project

• Deliver a presentation to a specified audience

• Provide evidence of all stages of project development and production for assessment

The learner will:

• Identify, design, plan and complete an individual project, applyinga range of organisational skills and strategies to meet agreed objectives

• Obtain, critically select and use select information from a range of sources; analyse data, apply it relevantly and demonstrate understanding of any appropriate linkages, connections and complexities of the topic

• Select and use a range of skills, including new technologies where appropriate, solve problems, take decisions critically, creatively and flexibly, to achieve planned outcomes

• Evaluate outcomes both in relation to agreed objectives and own learning and performance. Select and use a range of communication skills and media to present evidenced outcomes and conclusions in appropriate format

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Learners produce an original piece of extended writing based on an area of interest

Entry requirements

Students must be studying the equivalent of at least three A level subjects
