General Sixth Form Entry Requirements: - Minimum 4 GCSE passes at Grade 4 and above to study BTEC or vocational courses; 5 GCSE passes at 4 and above to study A level/BTEC combination; 5 GCSE's at Grades 5 and above to study straight A Levels.

Course Details
This qualification provides a broad introduction to the global travel and tourism industry, covering its economic importance, customer experience, and marketing strategies.
Students will explore:
• How global destinations are developed and promoted.
• The role of marketing and branding in tourism.
• Impacts of tourism on communities, environments, and economies.
• The evolving nature of travel trends and sustainable tourism.
Learners gain real-world insight through project work, simulated travel planning, and analysis of tourism organisations.
The course combines academic knowledge with practical vocational learning, preparing students for both higher education and employment.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
The course is assessed through a blend of internal and external assessments, providing a balance of written and practical tasks. Grades are awarded as Pass, Merit, Distinction, or Distinction* and carry full UCAS tariff points equivalent to one A Level.
58% External Assessment:
Unit 1: The World of Travel and Tourism – Written exam (1.5 hours, 75 marks).
Unit 2: Global Destinations – Supervised research and task (3 hours, 60 marks).
42% Internal Assessment:
Unit 3: Principles of Marketing in Travel and Tourism – Synoptic coursework project.
1 optional unit (e.g. Visitor Attractions or Events, Conferences and Exhibitions) – Coursework.
Entry requirements
Five GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, ideally including English and Mathematics. A keen interest in global cultures, customer service, marketing, and business. Learners may also be considered with a BTEC Level 2 qualification in a related subject and/or relevant work experience. (Pearson advises that learners with Level 2 qualifications and a good standard of English and Maths are most likely to succeed.)
