Entry Requirements –We do have entry recommendations for some courses, especially A-levels, as we would not want you to start a course that would not be suitable for you. We want to give you the best chance of future success.

The course programmes are flexible: students can mix Level 3 courses with Level 2 courses, or A-levels with BTECs. We provide impartial advice and guidance and seek to put you on the courses you want and are likely to be successful in.

Students are expected to study up to 3 A level equivalent subjects (this can be from either A levels and/or Level 3 BTEC subjects) building their own personalised combination of Level 3 subjects OR a full time Level 2 course.

The sixth form runs on a flexible timetable with some courses running until 6.00pm. This flexibility means we can offer as much as possible, to as many as possible, as often as possible.

Course Summary

This course would be of particular interest to students who wish to work in any uniformed public service industry including: the Army, Navy, RAF, Police, Fire or Ambulance services.

Course Details

The 6 units for the course include:

Unit 1: Government, Policies and the Public Services

This unit enables you to develop knowledge and understanding of the UK government policies and the democratic election process.

Unit 2: Leadership and Teamwork

The focus of the unit is on developing an understanding of leadership and teams and being able to demonstrate the skills required as both a leader and a team member in specific contexts.

Unit 3: Citizenship, Diversity and the Public Services

This unit will provide you with knowledge, skills, attitudes and values to become thoughtful and informed citizens and public service employees. It is designed to develop your awareness of rights and responsibilities as well as respect for different religious, ethnic and national groups within UK society.

Unit 5: Physical Preparation, Health and Lifestyle for the Public Services

Unit 7: International Institutions and Human Rights

Unit 8: Understand the Impact of War, Conflict and Terrorism on Public Services.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Students are assessed through their coursework and units completed.

Entry requirements

BTEC Level 2 qualification and GCSE English grade 4 or above.
