Course Details

Equivalent to 3 A Levels, a total of 72-168 UCAS points, depending on grades achieved. Concept art is an essential stage in many creative industry pipelines and with the animation and games industries continuing to grow, we have created this course dedicated to those who love to visualise characters and environment designs and then bring them to live through animation. This course helps to develop your digital art skills as well as learn fundamental drawing and design principles for concept art and animation. From this course, you will get a firm understanding of the whole concept art and animation pipeline, from gathering a variety of influences to designing environments and characters for a brief and then, taking it one step further by animating them. For each project brief, you will get the opportunity to learn, practice and develop skills such as anatomy and perspective drawing, story and narrative design and other design principles as well as more advanced techniques for animation culminating in an end of year project where you get the freedom to specialise in your favourite areas. The course is delivered through hands-on experience with industry standard software, such as the Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and Animate, and Toon Boom, on high specification Apple computers. Being part of Creative Studios, you will also have access to our hub of 3D printers, graphics tablets and iPads with Procreate. Our ethos is to align with the creative industries as much as possible meaning that our trainees develop skills that meet industry needs whilst becoming familiar with the pipelines they follow as well as engaging with live client briefs, opportunities for internships and guest speakers. If you would like to turn your ideas and digital art into an exciting career opportunity, then this course is for you.
