Course Summary

Religion can influence society by affecting the way individuals, communities, and cultures behave. This course will explore religious beliefs and teachings, as well as the disciplines of ethics and philosophy of religion in relation to the wider world. You will develop critical and reflective thinking skills and learn how to construct balanced, informed arguments in response to a range of thought-provoking topics.

When you have completed the course, you will be equipped with transferable analytical skills and prepared for progression to Higher Education.

Course Details

During the course, topics covered will include:

  • Arguments for the existence of God
  • Religious experience
  • Religious belief and the existence of evil
  • Ethical theories
  • Ethical language and thought
  • The idea of conscience

Entry requirements

General entry requirements:

To study this A Level, you’ll need a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 4 or above across your top six subjects with at least a grade 5 or above in Maths and English Language or Literature.

Please note: your GPA average can include English and Maths.

Subject-specific entry requirements:

To study Religious Studies, you’ll need a grade 5 in at least one other written subject (e.g. English Literature, History, Geography, Drama and Theatre, Business, Religious Studies etc).
