Entry Requirements: - Vary by course please see individual subject information on this website. We also require students to achieve at least five Grade 5s or above at GCSE for Level 3 curriculum. For our Level 2 Pathway, students need to have five Grade 3s or above, inlcuding English and Maths

Course Summary

Psychology is the scientific study of the mind and behaviour, exploring how people think, feel, and act. It is an interdisciplinary field that uses scientific methods to understand a wide range of human phenomena, including emotions, motivation, personality, and development. This includes studying how the brain and nervous system function and what happens when they go wrong, how individuals interact with each other, and how mental and physical health are interconnected.

Optional units in year 2 which include:
Schizophrenia, Forensic psychology, Cognition & development, Aggression, Stress, Gender, Eating behaviour and Addiction.
Three options will be covered throughout the two year course.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

100% formal examination with students sitting three 2hr papers at the end of the course.

Entry requirements

Grade 5 OR higher in GCSE English and Maths

or

Grade 5 or higher in GCSE Psychology with Grade 4 in English and Grade 5 in Maths

Your next steps...

Social science degrees such as psychology, sociology, criminology, counselling, social policy. It can facilitate with other subjects entry onto a wide range of other degrees as many of the skills developed are transferable to other subject areas.
Careers that have explicit links to psychology are within medicine and nursing, the criminal justice system, the education system and teaching, local authorities, social services, HR, business and marketing. There are many transferable skills from psychology into a wide variety of different sectors.
