Entry Requirements: - Vary by course please see individual subject information on this website. We also require students to achieve at least five Grade 5s or above at GCSE for Level 3 curriculum. For our Level 2 Pathway, students need to have five Grade 3s or above, inlcuding English and Maths

Course Summary

The aims and objectives of A Level Philosophy & Ethics are to enable students to:

• Develop their interest in the study of philosophical and ethical concepts

• Develop an understanding and appreciation of ethical issues and different theories around these

• Adopt an enquiring, critical and reflective approach to philosophical and ethical debates

• Develop knowledge and understanding appropriate to a specialist study of religion

• Reflect on and develop their own values, opinions and attitudes in the light of their study.

We will help you learn to:

• Analyse and construct sound arguments

• Distinguish differences between views and find common ground

• Present ideas convincingly through well-constructed, systematic arguments

• Write clearly and persuasively

• Generate ideas and come up with solutions to problems

• Be open to new ideas and ways of thinking

• Improve oracy skills and be more confident in public speaking

Social, Historical & Religious context of New Testament
The Person of Jesus

Kingdom of God, conflict and death & resurrection of Jesus
Scientific & historical critical challenges

Grade 5 or higher in GCSE RE and Grade 4 in English
