This course is designed for students who achieve an 9 to 4 in GCSE Mathematics, who choose not to continue with AS-level or A-level Mathematics.

This qualification can count as the mathematics element of the new Technical Baccalaureate, introduced from September 2014 and the Level 3 Mathematics Attainment Measure. It is distinct from GCE AS Level Mathematics as learners consolidate mathematical techniques that can be directly applied to real life contexts.

• an understanding of how mathematics can be applied in a real-world context
• critical analysis skills and reasoning
• their mathematical knowledge and how to make logical and reasoned decisions in solving problems both within pure mathematics and in a variety of contexts, and communicate the mathematical rationale for these decisions clearly

Course aims:

• Develop competence in the selection and use of mathematical methods and
• techniques
• Develop confidence in representing and analysing authentic situations
• mathematically, and in applying mathematics to address related questions and issues
• Build skills in mathematical thinking, reasoning and communication.

Minimum 5 GCSE grades 9-4 including English and Maths
