BTEC Work Skills (Level 2)

This vocational course is specifically designed for students aged 16+. It lasts one year and is taken as part of our level 2 pathway for students who have not yet qualified for Level 3 study.

If you are retaking GCSE English language AND GCSE Mathematics, you must choose TWO level 2 courses.

If you are retaking either GCSE English language OR GCSE Mathematics, AND you don't qualify for level 3 study, you will take all three.

Options include:

• CTEC Digital Media
• NCFE Sports Coaching
• BTEC Certificate in Work Skills

The course will consist of six units. Units are to be confirmed, but are chosen from a list by the course leader.

The qualification enables the development of discrete skills, such as applying for job vacancies, developing interview techniques and working within teams. The qualifications encourage learners to develop the ability to combine skills and units to give a realistic learning experience that emulates the 21st century workplace.

Internal assessment. The qualification and units are graded Pass/Fail.

To be accepted onto the level 2 pathway.

Minimum four grade 3s or above including English and mathematics are preferred.

Level 2 BTEC Workskills qualifications are a recognised employability suite allowing learners to explore employment and access jobs. They are designed to meet the needs of learners at this level and have a range of purposes and outcomes.
