This qualification gives a broad overview of the business sector, and can form part of a programme of study including other courses eg BTEC Nationals or A levels. It also fits well alongside IB Diploma subjects and has been a popular choice for students who study the IB.

Skills gained include decision making and a general understanding of how businesses operate.

How a Business is formed, structured and different functions like marketing and finance.

The design and development of a marketing campaign against a specified brief.

Budget requirements, financial sources for a business, profitability, personal finance and recruitment and selection.

There is a written finance exam, a controlled assessment where you develop a marketing campaign and 2 internally assessed assignments.

4 x grade 4 and above at GCSE including English and Maths.

This course offers a qualification for employment or further learning in business related sectors. You could take it with other subjects such as finance, to complement your qualification and prepare for higher education. The course covers all aspects of business and with further training you may wish to specialise and study a professional qualification in your chosen area such as Marketing, Retail or finance. The course provides a work related programme of study so you could go straight into a job as it helps you develop the skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers are looking for.
