Course Summary
Chemistry is central to many of the world’s most important scientific and technological advances. It underpins the development of new medicines, cleaner and more efficient energy sources, improved air and water quality, advances in biotechnology for health and food production, innovative nanomaterials, and sustainable industrial processes that reduce pollution.
Course Details
The course follows a context-led approach exploring scientific ideas through real-world applications to highlight the relevance and excitement of modern chemistry. The specification places strong emphasis on investigative work and problem-solving through practical experimentation.

How will it be delivered and assessed?
You will sit three exam papers at the end of the second year. You will also carry out 12 assessed practicals within the 12 practical activity groups across the two years to achieve the practical endorsement.
Entry requirements
At least five GCSEs graded 9-5 including a 6 in Maths and 6-6 in Science (if combined) or a Grade 6 in Chemistry alongside a 6 in another science (if separate).
