Entry Requirements: - Admission to Towers Sixth Form to study A levels or BTEC equivalent will be awarded on the basis of GCSE performance. Each subject has its own entry requirements.

Course Summary

The Eduqas Level 3 Certificate in Applied Criminology equips students with knowledge and understanding of criminology, which is relevant to many job roles within the criminal justice sector, social and probation work, as well as sociology and psychology.

Learners can progress to Criminology from any study at Level 2, particularly GCSEs in Sociology, Law, Psychology, Citizenship, History and Humanities. The ideal foundation for students progressing to university, Criminology contains elements of psychology, law and sociology.


Course Details

Over the two-year course, students will focus on four topics: changing awareness of crime; criminological theories; crime scene to courtroom; crime and punishment.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Year 1: Unit 1 is assessed via a controlled assessment and Unit 2 is an external examination.

Year 2: Unit 3 is assessed via a controlled assessment and Unit 4 is an external examination.


Entry requirements

5 GCSEs including Grade 4 in English and Maths.

The Level 3 Applied Diploma in Criminology is a very popular course that will enable you to move on to either work for the Police, Criminal Justice System, the National Probation Service or the National Offenders Management Service. It will also allow you to study criminology, and related subjects, at university.

This is a new course at Towers Sixth Form but current students are looking to further study Criminology at university, join the military and join the police.
