Course Summary

The Creative Industries reach almost every other sector in the UK. The intent of this programme is to enable you to practice and develop industry-standard production processes, as well as technical and creative skills giving you the fundamental knowledge needed for you to confidently enter the industry. The Content Creation programme will be taught via workshops, seminars, lectures and you will be expected to utilise independent study time. You will study a range of elements within the creative media industry, including camera operation, editing, lighting, audio, photography, interactive media and motion graphics. These will be taught through various practical projects such as music videos, advertisements, documentaries, short films and digital created content. You will be taught how to use Adobe Creative Cloud software such as Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop and Audition. You will also study theory and concepts including analysing media texts, audience theory, colour theory, target audience demographics, professional practice and self-reflection. You will develop your soft skills in teamwork, communication, planning, evaluation and problem solving. There are elements of extensive written work including evaluation, reflections and essays. You will also be expected to deliver presentations of your ideas and work throughout the year. At the end of each year, you will complete a major creative media project where you will be able to demonstrate your abilities and create a body of work that you have a keen interest in. Students in past years have produced films, made documentaries, developed their own digital marketing, worked on audio pieces and short animations. Students have a high level of autonomy at every stage from inception to the presentation of the completed project.
