Course Summary

Economics is the study of how society uses the world’s resources, how the global financial system functions and the economic science that underpins small scale business and individuals (micro) and large scale policy (macro) decisions.

Course Details

The subject is divided between Microeconomics (themes 1 and 3) and Macro economics (Themes 2 and 4). Students will use economic theory to analyse current economic issues.

Theme 1: Introduction to markets and market failure

Theme 2: The UK economy - performance and policies

Theme 3: Business behaviour and the labour market

Theme 4: A global perspective

How will it be delivered and assessed?

There are 3 examination papers:

Paper 1: Microeconomics – 35% of final grade

Paper 2: Macroeconomics – 35% of final grade

Paper 3: Microeconomics and Macroeconomics – 30% of final grade
