Course Summary

A combination of assignment based coursework, practical assessments together with closed book and controlled assessments are used for each course. These include performance analysis, individual oral presentations, meeting assignment deadlines, problem based coursework and through portfolios consisting of reflective, evidence based competence.

Course Details

BTEC Nationals are Level 3 qualifications designed to provide highly specialist work-related skills needed in Engineering. They give learners the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to prepare them for employment. The qualifications provide career development opportunities for work in a number of different engineering industries carrying out a variety of roles. As qualified technician?s, students have progressed to fulfil such roles as a Design Engineer as well as maintenance and servicing work on a variety of electrical and electronic equipment. The qualification also allows progression to higher education on HNC/HND and Degree level programmes.

Entry requirements

Five GCSE’s at Grade 4 or above including at least one Grade 5 in a Maths, Science or Technology subject and English at Grade 4.
