Course Summary
Within the course, you will be given a range of projects to complete throughout the year which will prepare you for your final major project that is internally assessed and externally moderated by UAL. In Year 1, you will complete Unit 1 to Unit 3. In Year 2, you will complete Unit 4 to Unit 6. The overall grade for the qualification is based on Unit 6: Specialist Creative Outcome.
All units will be graded against the Assessment Objectives set by UAL, with Unit 6 being graded either a Pass, Merit or Distinction.
Course Details
Equivalent to 3 A Levels, a total of 72-168 UCAS points, depending on grades achieved. This course provides an opportunity for those students who have ambitions and aspirations of a career in the fashion, to explore, develop and test their creativity within a qualification structure that is stimulating and demanding. You will work towards and explore a wide range of disciplines, materials and media, and will have the opportunity to focus and specialise your practice. You will complete various projects which require you to develop your practical skills by experimenting with a range of materials, media and processes and demonstrate your understanding of the creative process. You will then respond to a set brief to produce a body of work for the College end of year show. You will also complete a specialist research project linked to your areas of interest. This will be accompanied by projects which require you to develop your technical & practical skills within your chosen specialism. Your final synoptic assessment requires you to draw on everything you have learnt over the two years, and propose, plan and fully realise a self-directed and individual specialist practice project which will be exhibited in the College end of year show. From sketchbook to catwalk, you will develop a broad range of creative and technical skills in fashion, textiles and printmaking in our industry standard printmaking studio. This specialist pathway is based in our dedicated fashion studios and will introduce you to a broad range of creative and technical skills in fashion and textiles, such as fashion design, pattern cutting, garment construction, styling, textile techniques, printmaking, fashion photography, drawing, plus computer aided design & illustration. Entry requirements
Minimum of four GCSEs grade 4 - 9 including English and preferably maths and one creative subject. Or an equivalent Level 2 Qualification in Art and Design at merit or above. You will need a positive school report/recommendation/reference from your school/tutor. We also require a portfolio of work to be presented at interview. You will also be set an interview task when you apply to bring along to your interview.
