Course Summary

Interested in developing specific technical and professional skills and knowledge in the forestry and arboriculture industry?

You will study key aspects of sustainable forestry and arboriculture practices, and understand the importance of managing natural resources responsibly and promoting environmental conservation.

Course Details

Modules include:

  • Principles of health and safety
  • Machinery operations
  • Identification of pests, diseases and disorder of trees
  • Planning forestry projects
  • Arboriculture and estate skills
  • Urban forestry
  • Tree surveying
  • Principles of tree felling and chainsaw use

How will it be delivered and assessed?

You will be assessed through theory-based written exams, and practical and report writing exams.

Entry requirements

Either:
  • You’ll need to have achieved 5 or more GCSEs between Grade 9-4 (previous grade structure A-C) including English, Maths and a Science
  • Successful completion of a related Level 2 qualification at merit or above and GCSE Maths or English at Grade c/4 or above
  • Mature students without the above requirements will be considered
