Course Summary

Students will re-sit GCSE maths if a grade 4 or above has not been achieved.


GCSE mathematics follows will build on topics previously learnt in addition to exploring new, more challenging topics. Students will become skilled in problem solving including those that exist in real life.

Course Details

Students will study either higher of foundation dependent upon their ability.

Number: Students study all number topics including standard form, indices, negative numbers and surds.

Algebra: This includes a range of algebra including basic solving algebra to algebraic fractions and graphs.

Data and Statistics: This unit covers interpreting charts such as bar charts to finding the mode and median on cumulative frequency diagrams and histograms.

Geometry and Measure: Students will study basic shape such as 2D shapes and finding area and perimeters as well as investigating cones, pyramids and frustums.

Ratio and Proportion: students will investigate direct and inverse proportion both graphically and numerically as well as solving real life ratio problems.



How will it be delivered and assessed?

Students will sit three papers, each lasting 1 hour 30 minutes.

▪ Paper 1: is non-calculator.

▪ Papers 2: and 3 are both calculator
