Course Summary
A Level Geography is a dynamic and relevant subject that explores the relationships between people, places and environments. Students develop an understanding of some of the most important issues facing the world today while gaining valuable analytical, research and communication skills.
Students explore major physical processes, including earthquakes, volcanoes, coastal change, climate change, water security and sustainable energy. Through real-world case studies, they investigate how natural systems operate and how people respond to environmental challenges.
Alongside this, students examine the human processes that shape societies and places. Topics such as globalisation, regeneration, migration, development and the influence of superpowers help students understand how political, economic and social decisions affect communities at local, national and global scales.
Fieldwork is an important part of the course. Students complete at least four days of fieldwork, collecting and analysing data before applying these skills to an independent geographical investigation.
