Entry Requirements: Minimum entry requirements are 5 GCSEs at Grade 4 or above, which MUST include English Language and Mathematics, plus any additional individual subject requirements.

Course Summary
The Extended Certificate is for students who are interested in learning about the health and social care sector alongside other fields of study. The course provides robust opportunities for learners to develop their knowledge and understanding of a wide range of subject areas relating to health and social care provision such as responsibilities, legislation as well a development and common illness and diseases. This knowledge supports progression to a wide range of higher education courses, not only in health and social care-related subjects, but in any area of employment which involves working with people.

Learners will study 4 units over the 2 years: 3 mandatory and 1 optional unit.
Human Lifespan Development – examined.
Working in Health and Social Care - exam¬ined
Meeting Individual Care and Support Needs – coursework
Supporting Individuals with Additional Needs – coursework
The Diploma learners will also study:
Enquiries into Current Research in Health and Social Care – externally set task
Principles of Safe Practice in Health and Social Care – coursework
Promoting Public Health – coursework Work Experience in Health and Social Care – coursework with compulsory placement hours.
Entry requirements
General entry requirements: Grade 4 in English Language and Maths together with 3 other GCSE grades at grade 4 or above is the minimum requirement to enter Hillview Sixth Form.
Any Science GCSE at a 4 or above and GCSE English Language and Maths grade 4 or above.
