Level 3 - 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or higher including English and Mathematics.
Transition - 5 GCSEs at grade 3 or higher. Either English or Mathematics must be at a grade 4.

Why study this subject?
History is not just studying what events happened, but why they happened and the perspective of people at the time and the interpretations of later historians. History is one of the most sought after qualifications and the most widely accepted by universities.
Course Details
Units that will be studied
The course comprises of three units:
• Breadth: The Making of a Superpower (the USA)
• Depth: The Making of Modern Britain
• Historical Enquiry: an independent investigation into either the Witch Hunt Hysteria or a specialty of Mr. Slade.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Assessment
Paper 1 (USA) 2hr 30min examination on the breadth study (x1 interpretation question and x2 essays) 40%
Paper 2 (Modern Britain) 2hr 30min examination on the depth study (x1 source question and x2 essays) 40%
Historical Enquiry A 3500-word essay answering your own question in the context of 100 years 20%
Entry requirements
STS Sixth Form offers a broad range of A Level and Applied general qualifications that will prepare you for university or employment. To access this route, you will need to have at least 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and Maths; however, some subjects have specific entry criteria. You will study a programme that can be tailored to meet your interests and future aspirations to give you the best chance of academic success. This programme is a two-year linear course. To study four level 3 courses, you must have at least 5 GCSEs at grade 7 or above. All courses are subject to change and are not set in stone.
