Pathways Offered:
  • Level 2 Pathway - For students who still need to resit their Mathematics and English Language GCSE's to gain a Grade 4 alongside Level 2 BTECs.
  • Level 3 Vocational - For students who have gained a grade 4 in their Mathematics and English Language OR English Literature.
  • IBCP Programme - For students gaining 5 GCSE's at Grade 4 and above including Mathematics and English Language.
  • Sports Academies (Basketball/Football) - For students wishing to pursue Sport professionally alongside their studies. The academy must be taken in addition to one of the other three pathways on offer.

Number of subjects required:

  • Level 3 Pathway - Please select three Level 3 courses (BTEC or RSL)
  • IBCP Pathway - Please select two IB Diploma courses and two Level 3 Vocational courses (BTEC or RSL)

Course Summary

IB Global Politics SL - Equivalent to 0.5 A Levels

Global Politics is for students to learn how they world they live in works, and what makes it change. The course studies international relations, and develops understanding of local, national and international politics.

Unit 1 - Understanding power and politics

Unit 2 - Rights and justice

Unit 3 - Development and sustainability

Unit 4 - Peace and conflict


IA - Politics engagement project


How will it be delivered and assessed?

There are 2 exams which are externally assessed and 1 internal assessment.

Exam Paper 1 (30%)

Exam Paper 2 (40%)

IA Report (30%)


Entry requirements

You must have at least:

4 in GCSE English Language

4 in GCSE Mathematics

4 or equivalent in 3 additional subjects
