Pathways Offered:
  • Level 2 Pathway - For students who still need to resit their Mathematics and English Language GCSE's to gain a Grade 4 alongside Level 2 BTECs.
  • Level 3 Vocational - For students who have gained a grade 4 in their Mathematics and English Language OR English Literature.
  • IBCP Programme - For students gaining 5 GCSE's at Grade 4 and above including Mathematics and English Language.
  • Sports Academies (Basketball/Football) - For students wishing to pursue Sport professionally alongside their studies. The academy must be taken in addition to one of the other three pathways on offer.

Number of subjects required:

  • Level 3 Pathway - Please select three Level 3 courses (BTEC or RSL)
  • IBCP Pathway - Please select two IB Diploma courses and two Level 3 Vocational courses (BTEC or RSL)

Course Summary

The History IB is a world history course that takes a comparative and multi-perspective approach. It covers political, economic, social and cultural history with an emphasis on developing historical critical thinking skills.

Unit 2 - The Cold War: Superpower Tensions and Rivalries

Unit 3 - Dynasties and Rulers


IA - Historical Investigation Report


How will it be delivered and assessed?

There are 2 exams which are externally assessed and 1 internal assessment.


Exam Paper 1 (30%)

Exam Paper 2 (45%)

IA Report (25%)


Entry requirements

You must have at least:

4 in GCSE English Language

4 in GCSE Mathematics

4 or equivalent in 3 additional subjects.


Preferred but not essential:

4 in GCSE History
