Application Details: At Hartsdown Academy we run the International Baccalaureate Career-Related Programme https://www.ibo.org/programmes/career-related-programme/ . Prospective students need to choose 1 Vocational Course (BTEC or OCR) and 2 IB Diploma Courses.

Entry Requirements: 5 x Grade 4-9 including Maths & English. A good attendance and behaviour record is also essential.

Course Summary

IB Film will provide you with opportunities to develop your analysis skills by examining a range of films from an array of cultures. Students are given the tools and skills necessary to express themselves creatively by making films and experimenting in different film roles.

  • Term 1 - Comparative Study
  • Term 2 - Comparative Study & Practical Production
  • Term 3 - Textual Analysis
  • Term 4 - Finalising Practical Production

Year 12

Term 1 & 2 - Textual Analysis 30%

Term 1, 2 & 4 - Comparative Study 30%

Term 3, 5, 6 - Film Portfolio 40%


Year 13 - Work assessed in second year.

Term 1, 2 - Comparative Study 30%

Term 3, 4, 5 - Film Portfolio 40%

Term 5, 6 - Textual Analysis 30%

Assessment

Textual Analysis (1750 word essay on 5 minutes of a selected film)

Comparative Study (10 minute video essay)

9 minute portfolio containing student film (3 minutes) and two experiments (2 experiments in 2 different film roles, one minute thirty seconds per experiment)

Entry requirements

5+ English and Maths and 3 subjects at Grade 4+
