Application Details: At Hartsdown Academy we run the International Baccalaureate Career-Related Programme https://www.ibo.org/programmes/career-related-programme/ . Prospective students need to choose 1 Vocational Course (BTEC or OCR) and 2 IB Diploma Courses.
Entry Requirements: 5 x Grade 4-9 including Maths & English. A good attendance and behaviour record is also essential.

Course Summary
The IB Spanish B syllabus is designed to develop students’ linguistic abilities and crucially also their intercultural understanding and critical thinking.
The five themes of identities, experiences, human ingenuity, social organisation and sharing the planet are explored from the perspectives of Spanish-speaking communities around the world, growing students’ global awareness and citizenship.
Course Details
IB Spanish B Standard Level incorporates 150 teaching hours to develop linguistic abilities and intercultural understanding.
Linguistic component
Students’ will develop proficiency in listening, reading, writing and speaking by studying contemporary topics including communication media, health, leisure, customs and traditions.
Intercultural component
Students will explore the diverse cultures of Spanish speaking communities across the world, making connections and drawing comparisons between them and their own cultures and understanding how current realities materialised.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Internal Assessment - an oral presentation on a topic of the student’s choice from the syllabus, to demonstrate both their linguistic ability and also their understanding of cultural perspectives.
Listening, reading, writing and speaking unseen assessments.
Entry requirements
Five Grade 4 qualifications (or L2 pass in vocational courses) including English and maths as well as a Grade 5 in Spanish GCSE
