Esports: A Growing Industry
What is Esports?: Esports is defined as competitive video gaming. Players, either solo or in teams, battle it out in online tournaments. This industry is booming! In just a few years, it's grown from a niche hobby to a global phenomenon worth billions.
If you're passionate about gaming and want a career in a fast-growing industry, esports could be the perfect choice!
When considering Esports, this works well alongside other Computing, Business and Marketing courses.
We also offer extra curricular opportunities taking part in the Esports club, being a member of the JW6 Esports team, competing against other schools and colleges in the British Esports Championships.
Course Details
Studying esports isn't just about gaming. It's about learning a wide range of skills that are useful in many different jobs and careers. You'll learn about:
Strategy and Teamwork: Making smart decisions and working well with others.
Marketing and Business: Promoting yourself and understanding the business side of esports.
IT and Technology: The tech behind the games.
Creative Skills: Designing graphics, creating content, and more.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Learners will cover four mandatory units:-
Unit 1: Introduction to Esports
Unit 2: Esports Skills, Strategies and Analysis
Unit 3: Enterprise and Entrepreneurship in the Esports Industry
Unit 4: Health, Wellbeing and Fitness for Esports Players.
Entry requirements
Grade 4 in Mathematics
Grade 4 (or Level 2 Pass) in one of: Computer Science, Business Studies or Creative iMedia (or equivalent)
