Course Summary

This FULL TIME PROGRAMME is open to all 16/17-year-old learners. The suite of qualifications and experience is aimed at Level 1 learners; however, it is also suitable for Level 2 learners who wish to move into apprenticeships the following year.

Course Details

Students will have Work Experience as a substantial part of their learning, development and experience on this pathway.

GCSE English and Maths will be studied alongside this programme if a Grade 4 has not been achieved. Students will also have the opportunity to study Functional Skills Maths and/or English at Level 1 and 2 if appropriate.

Students will study:

Core non qualifications: Personal development Learning and Careers Development

GCSE and/or Functional Skills Maths

GSEC and/or Functional Skills English

Kings' Trust Personal Development and Employability Skills

2 days' Work Experience per week

How will it be delivered and assessed?

There will be a combination of taught sessions, independent study, tutorials and work experience.

Entry requirements

This suite of qualifications and experience is aimed at Level 1 learners; however, it is also suitable for level 2 learners who wish to move into apprenticeships the following year.

Learners are likely to have evidence of achievement of some GCSE and vocational qualifications at Grades 1-3. However, students can also access this course if they have not achieved any previous qualifications due to different personal circumstances. Students need to have an interest in developing their skills and interests towards a career area with a view to gain an apprenticeship at the end of study.

The requirements of this programme lead to students developing the transferable work-related skills which are valued by education providers and employers. Students may continue with work-based learning through securing an apprenticeship or continuing to study a range of vocational programmes in further education.
