Course Summary

Ideal for those aspiring to start a career in sport and leisure, this Level 2 course gives you an insight into what is required to work as a fitness coach, and a chance to explore the sports industry.

Course Details

Using a combination of theory and practical sessions, you will learn:

• Anatomy and Physiology

• Principles of Fitness Training

• Principles of nutrition and lifestyle

• Health and Safety in a fitness environment

• Professionalism and customer care

• Conducting client consultations

• Planning and delivering fitness sessions

You will also gain employability skills such as being able to plan and lead group exercise sessions safely and effectively, learn how to assess clients through understanding the industry and the human body.

You will enhance your employability skills through teamwork, communication skills and leadership skills all of which will help you to gain employment in the fitness industry.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

The course is assessed in three ways:

• Knowledge assessment- use a range of different question types to assess the learner’s abilities, retention of knowledge and factual recall. The different types of questions include multiple choice, short essays, drag and drop into text and scenario-/video-based questions and answers.

• Assignments- students will complete tasks set and demonstrate their abilities through written work and practical’s

• Observation and Questioning- students are assessed on their ability to lead sessions safety an competently, and there maybe questions asked to assess further the students knowledge and understanding.

Your next steps...

This course provides progression to other level 2 specialist fitness courses and can lead to progression at Level 3 onto fitness courses for example the Active IQ Level 3 Technical Occupational Entry in Personal Training (Diploma).
