In this highly creative course, specalise your skills into the world of theatrical and media makeup and learn advanced techniques.

Course Details

Techniques and practices learnt on this course cover the areas of film, television, stage, catwalk and other media projects. As your skills grow over the course, look into a variety of different units which will help you stand out in this lucrative industry. Units can include:

  • Creative hairdressing design skills
  • Principles of studio photography
  • Applying prosthetic pieces and bald caps
  • Designing and applying face and body art
  • Fashion and photographic make-up
  • Applying airbrush make-up to the face
  • Media make-up
  • Camouflage make-up
  • Working with colleagues within the beauty related industries
  • Monitoring and maintaining health and safety practice in the salon

In our industry standard salons, put your skills into practice on real clients whilst learning from experts in the field.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Assessment will take place through practical observations in our salons, as well as with written work and online exams. A portfolio you create during the course helps to aid assessment and show off your strengths.

Your next steps...

Once you finish your course, you will be ready to start in many positions in the hair and beauty industry, relating to media. These include a makeover demonstrator, a TV or film trainee make-up artist or consultancy work.

You can also go onto further study in this area, such as a Level 4 qualification, an apprenticeship, or university.
