Course Summary

Start off an exciting future in Media and specialise in web design and interactive media. Be provided with the key knowledge, skills and understanding that are vital for this industry.

Course Details

Learning consists of developing your media skills through practical projects, alongside theory work, to give you a greater understanding of the industry.

You will explore the fundamentals of animation and visual effects for the animation industry, film, games design and more. A range of processes and techniques will be taught including:

  • Concept art
  • Character design
  • Animation (digital and traditional techniques)
  • 3D modelling
  • Audio design
  • Interactive design

Developing an understanding of key concepts in animation is also a key part of the course, alongside building skills in a range of industry standard programs.

Software you'll use includes:

  • Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects)
  • Blender 3D
  • Audacity
  • GameMaker Studio

On the course you will be able to build your portfolio, and develop your research, planning and project management skills. This enables you to progress into the desired career path that you wish to go into, demonstrating practical skills and actual media products.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Your portfolio of your work will be graded by external assessors against your unit criteria. There are also specific projects for your units which you will be assessed during.

The investigation of job roles and industry sectors on the course will prepare you for progression to study at degree level or entry level roles in the industry.

This includes progressing to higher education at a range of universities and prestigious schools across the country and the world.

You could also go onto a specialised apprenticeship or start your professional career in several roles based on your interests and strengths.
