Build the skills to create, produce and shape the content that drives today’s digital world. This course is your gateway into the fast-moving media industry, where creativity and technology come together. Explore a wide range of media specialisms, from video and digital content to editing and production, as you develop the knowledge and practical skills needed to succeed. You’ll experiment across multiple disciplines before building real projects that reflect how the industry works. With the media and digital sectors continuing to grow, this two-year course gives you the flexibility to explore your interests, develop your strengths and move towards a career in one of the most exciting creative industries.

Course Details

Start thinking like a media professional as you explore how content is planned, created and produced. You’ll develop your skills through a mix of practical projects and theory, building a strong understanding of how the industry operates. Plan and develop your ideas through pre-production, learning how to research, communicate and organise your work before bringing it to life. You’ll then create and refine your content using filming and editing techniques, developing the skills needed to produce professional-quality media. As you progress, you’ll build confidence across a range of media formats, experimenting with different approaches whilst developing your own creative direction. The course is designed to help you explore your interests and prepare for the creative area you want to specialise. You will develop skills in: • Pre-production and planning techniques • Communication skills for media production • Research and idea development • Film and video editing techniques • Creating and refining digital media content • Building a professional portfolio of work Throughout the course, you’ll build a strong portfolio of work that showcases your creativity, technical ability and readiness for your next step. You’ll also gain valuable insight into the creative industries through live briefs, employer engagement and work experience opportunities, helping you understand how your skills can translate into real careers.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

You’ll build a strong and varied portfolio throughout the course, developing your work across practical projects and creative assignments. Each unit gives you the chance to experiment, refine your ideas and produce work that reflects professional standards. At the end of each year, you’ll complete a final project, giving you the opportunity to take creative control, develop your personal style and create a body of work that showcases your skills and prepares you for your next step.
