Course Details

This 2-year course has four component units. Two of these are externally examined and completed in Year 1: Unit 1 Human Physiology, Anatomy and Pathology and Unit 2: Health Issues and Scientific Reporting. The remaining two units are internally assessed with exam board set assignments: Unit 3 Practical microbiology and Infectious Diseases and Unit 4 Diseases, Disorders, Treatments and Therapies.

It offers students the opportunity to build on what they have learned in GCSE Biology with the focus on medicine and diagnostics with practical sessions on methods of pathogenicity and infectious agents, leading to analysing samples and developing research and laboratory skills.
