Entry Requirements: Some courses have additional entry requirements. These can be found on the prospectus.

Level 3 - 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or higher including English and Mathematics.

Transition - 5 GCSEs at grade 3 or higher. Either English or Mathematics must be at a grade 4.

The course comprises of nine units:

• Module 1: Development of practical skills in physics

• Module 2: Foundations in physics

• Module 3: Forces and motion

• Module 4: Electrons, waves and photons

• Module 5: Newtonian world and astrophysics

• Module 6: Particles and medical physics


How will it be delivered and assessed?

Assessment

Paper 1 External examination – 2hrs 15 mins covering Modules 1,2,3&5 37%

Paper 2 External examination – 2hrs 15 mins covering 1,2,4&6 37%

Paper 3 External examination – 1hr 30 mins synoptic covering all modules 26%

Additional Entry Requirements

Minimum of grade 5 or above in Mathematics and a grade 7-6 or above in Combined Science or a grade 6 in Physics
