Course Summary
Politics A-Level gives you detailed knowledge of how the political system works as you discuss voting behaviour, the electoral system, political ideologies, and the legislative process. Using historical examples throughout the course, you will also realise how politics has influenced every major human event in history.
Course Details
During this two-year course, you will study a range of intriguing modules that will help you assess the political landscape. In the first year, you will study the process and reasoning behind law-making and what impact and influence it has on society. You will discuss participation in UK politics and look at the opportunities people have to participate at a national and local level. This will lead onto voting behaviour, the electoral system, political ideologies, and the legislative process. In the second year, you will study US politics and then compare and contrast the US system to the one we have in the UK. Using historical examples, you will understand how politics has influenced every major human event in history.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Your assessment will be entirely through exams.
Entry requirements
Our general entry criteria to study 3 A-Levels is: Minimum five GCSEs grade 4-9 with English Language or Maths at grade 5. For a mixed Level 3 programme the criteria are: Minimum five GCSEs grade 4-9 with English Language or Maths at grade 4. Subject specific entry criteria apply: A GCSE grade 4 in English Language.

Politics is a highly respected A-Level and is held in high esteem by Oxbridge and Russell Group universities. So once you have completed this course, you will be well prepared to study at university. You could start degrees in politics, international relations, law or economics.
