Entry Requirements: Some courses have additional entry requirements. These can be found on the prospectus.
Level 3 - 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or higher including English and Mathematics.
Transition - 5 GCSEs at grade 3 or higher. Either English or Mathematics must be at a grade 4.

Course Summary
Why study this subject?
If you love sport and would like to make a career out of it - maybe as a sporting professional, teaching, coaching or working in the sports industry - then this course could be for you. You will develop the ability to work autonomously and effectively. This qualification will allow progression into employment as well as to university or further work related qualifications in sport.
Course Details
Units that will be studied
The course comprises of three compulsory units and two optional units:
• Unit 1: Body systems and the effects of physical activity
• Unit 2: Sports coaching and leadership
• Unit 3: Sports organisation and development
• Options may include: Nutrition and diet for sport and exercise; Improving fitness for sport and physical activity; Health and fitness testing for sport and exercise; Physical activity for specific groups; Sport injuries and rehabilitation; Organisation of sports events; Practical skills in sport and physical activity; Sport and exercise psychology; Sport and exercise sociology.

Assessment
Unit 1 Examination - 1hr 30mins 20%
Unit 2 Internally assessed 15%
Unit 3 Examination - 1hr 30mins 20%

Units Internally assessed 45%

Additional Entry Requirements
Grade 4 or above in GCSE Science. Students must be able to meet coursework deadlines due to the heavy emphasis on this type of work.
