Course Summary

The NCFE Level 3 Diploma in Sport & Physical Activity (Sports Coaching) qualification provides a solid grounding for students wishing to enter the world of sport and its associated industries, either through progression to university or by entering employment. This course also offers access to the NKC Football Academy for Boy’s and Girl’s teams. Learners wishing to improve their football skills and performance will access 3 training sessions per week and football fixtures on Wednesdays in the U19 KSFA League and National Football Youth League.

Course Details

12 units of study, over 2 years, include: Preparing for a Career in Sport & Physical Activity; Sports Nutrition; Exercise, Health & Lifestyle; Sports Coaching, Current Issues in Sport and Analysis of Sports Performance. The NCFE programme will use continuous assessment through theory and practical methods. You will be able to track your performance as you work towards Pass, Merit or Distinction grades.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

There are no formal exams within this course Methods of assessment will include: reports, presentations, practical demonstrations, coaching sessions, posters, leaflets, interviews and discussions.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs grade 4 or above. These must include English and/or Maths; PE is also desirable or a BTEC or NCFE Level 2 Diploma in Sport at a Merit grade

What can I do when I finish my course? The majority of learner’s progress into a career in sport. Due to the diverse nature of the course, students are well suited to continuing their studies with degrees in sports science, sports coaching and sports management being amongst the most popular.
