Course Summary

Learn the core knowledge and skills needed to enter a range of animal care and management roles. A T Level is available to those 16-19 and is made up of 80 per cent classroom work and 20 per cent work placement.

Course Details

You will combine hands-on learning and academic study with a 45-day minimum work experience placement with a local employer.

A range of units will be taught on the course including:

  • Animal Management
  • Sustainability and the environment Biosecurity
  • Project Management
  • Customer Care
  • Health and Safety
  • Business Development

In your work experience, you will develop transferrable technical and practical skills based on the knowledge gained in College. This gives you the opportunity to use your skills in a realistic working environment.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

T Levels are assessed through a combination of exams, coursework, and completion of your industry placement. The exams take place at the end of each year and test the skills you have learned so far.

Your next steps...

On completing this course, there will be a wide range of progression routes available to you. These include, starting your career in a variety of Animal Management roles such as Zookeeper, Animal Care Worker or Dog Handler.

You can also progress onto University after a T Level giving you the chance to work towards specialist careers.
