Course Summary
Photography requires the student to set their own agenda from within themselves, rather than follow set topics, as in other subjects. Students have to make independent decisions throughout and be self-critical. They also need to be brave in exposing their creations and accept criticism. Working in teams, students become good communicators.

How will it be delivered and assessed?
Component 1: Personal investigation
Candidates should produce two elements:
1. A portfolio of practical work showing their personal response to either a starting point, brief, scenario, or stimulus, devised and provided by the candidate or centre
2. A related study of continuous prose with a guided minimum of 1,000 words.

120 marks - 60% of total A Level
This component is internally assessed and externally moderated
Component 2: Externally set task
The early release paper will be issued on 1 February and will provide candidates with a number of themes, each with a range of written and visual starting points, briefs and stimuli From these, one must be selected, upon which to base a response.
Externally set task (15 hours) - H600/02–H606/02
80 marks - 40% of total A Level
This component is internally assessed and externally moderated
Coursework (1 Unit) 60% Exam (1 Unit) 40%
Entry requirements
Grade 4 or above in Art/Photography/Textiles or a portfolio of work
