Course Summary

The Level 3 BTEC award in Children’s play, learning and development provides learners with the knowledge and understanding of child development and education necessary for working with children in a variety of job roles and settings.
This course also focusses on the psychology of the juvenile brain and how to support cognitive, physical, emotional and social development within children up to the age of 8 years old.

The new course is structured with 1 examined unit* and 4 evidence portfolios. There is also 50 hours mandatory childcare placement.

Topics will include:
- Child Development *
- Play and learning
- Health and Safety in Early Years Setting
- Observation, assessment and planning
- Meeting children’s physical development, physical care and health needs.
