This course will be your first step to becoming a qualified electrician and a career in the commercial, industrial or domestic sectors.
Course Details
During the year you will take your first step to becoming a qualified electrician and focus on the core principles and practical elements of electrical engineering. Learning will take place in our dedicated electrical workshop, where you will learn the theoretical elements of electrical science and circuits. You will then learn about the electrical installation methods, procedures and requirements. You will also have the opportunity to develop your English, maths and science skills. Modules include: * Health and safety in electrical installation * Electrical installation theory and technology * Electrical installation methods, procedures and requirements * Electrical installation craft skills * Electrical science and principles
How will it be delivered and assessed?
You will be assessed by short computer-based tests, practical assessment of tasks and assignments made up of 30% practical, 30% coursework and 40% exams.
Entry requirements
Minimum four grade 3-9 at GCSE or successful completion of the Level 1 course, and English and maths at grade 4.
Your next steps...
On successful completion of this course you can progress on to the Level 3 Electrical Installations or start an electrical apprenticeship. With this qualification, you will be at a level to allow you to become an �Electrical Improver� or �Electrician�s Mate�. Additional training and further study will be needed to become a fully qualified electrician.
