Entry Requirements: - 5 GCSEs at grade 4 including English Language or Literature, and Maths. There are some further entry requirements for specific courses.

This course provides an opportunity for students to extend their abilities beyond the A level syllabus, whilst also standing out and preparing for university or their future career. Students will identify, plan and complete an individual project on a subject of their choosing, applying a range of strategies to prove a hypothesis or to create something new. They will obtain, critically select and use information from a range of sources; analyse data, apply it relevantly and demonstrate understanding of the complexities of the topic. Students will use a range of skills, solve problems, and to make decisions analytically, creatively and flexibly, to achieve planned outcomes.

The EPQ is worth half an A Level.

Students are expected to complete independent research into an agreed topic of their choice before compiling a report on their findings in a production log and presenting the journey of their studies and conclusions to peers and staff. Students have the opportunity to create an artifact to go alongside their report that supports the conclusions of their research and report.

Students will be assessed on completion of their production log and presentation that is internally marked and externally moderated.

In order to attend Meopham Sixth Form the minimum entry requirement is 5 level 4 GCSEs, including English Language and Mathematics.
