Course Summary

Students will study units on the nature of law, criminal law, tort law and human rights. This course will develop skills in Critical analysis, logical reasoning, debate, research skills and independent learning.

Course Details

Topics covered in A Level Law include:
  • The role of law in society
  • Processes by which laws are made
  • How legal decisions are applied


How will it be delivered and assessed?

Students will be assessed at the end of the two years of study across three written exams.

Paper 1: Criminal Law

Paper 2: Tort Law

Paper 3: Human Rights


Entry requirements

In order to attend Meopham Sixth Form the minimum entry requirement is 5 level 4 GCSEs, including English Language and Mathematics.

To study Law you are required to achieve the minimum of a level 5 in English, in addition to a level 4 in Mathematics.

Law A-Level could lead to university study in the fields of law, criminology, politics and more. This line of study could continue into a Masters or PhD. The course will develop a range of transferable skills that are valuable in a wide range of careers, not just the legal profession.

A few include: barrister, solicitor, paralegal, legal consultant, mediator, policing, prison service, forensic science, the courts system, charity sector, political governance or international relations
