Course Summary
During this one-year course you will learn a range of skills and exercise techniques that will enable you to start a career or own your own business in personal training. You will benefit from being taught by the industry qualified and practising instructors, one of whom has worked within elite professional football with Brighton & Hove Albion.
Course Details
During this course you will learn the essential skills and in-depth knowledge you need to be able to put together comprehensive training programmes for clients. You will use your passion for exercise to understand the principles fitness so that you can pass on your knowledge to others. You will learn how to conduct fitness testing and learn a range of advanced fitness techniques. Theory and practical sessions will take place in our fully-equipped gym, where you will be able to consult with clients about their fitness goals, and then create and deliver training and fitness programmes to meet their needs. Units you will cover during the course include: * Anatomy and physiology * Exercise and health * Planning and delivering personal training sessions * Principles of nutrition and physical activity * Fitness Testing * Advanced exercise technique * English, maths and IT skills
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Your assessment will consist of 25% practical tasks, 50% written coursework and 25% exams.
Entry requirements
Minimum five grade 4-9 at GCSE or successful completion of the Level 2 course, and English or maths at grade 4.

On completion of the course you can progress onto further study in areas such as Exercise Referral, Weight Management or Programming Physical Activity for Individuals with Low Back Pain You may also look to start you career in the industry as a Fitness instructor, Personal trainer or become self employed.
