During the course you will be required to wear a uniform, which will cost approximately �250. You may also have the opportunity to visit a number of catering and cooking events which may incur additional costs.

Course Summary

During this one-year advanced course you will be able to build on your experience of working in a kitchen or previous study to improve your cooking skills. You will also have the opportunity to specialise in a specific area or even move into a management role.

Course Details

You will be able to use your passion for cooking to fuel ambition to become a qualified professional in this dynamic industry. You will be able to explore the world the Gastronomy, learn a range of advanced skills and techniques to prepare and cook meat, poultry, fish and vegetarian dishes. We will also guide you through kitchen and larder professional cooking operations, develop your leadership and supervisory skills and give you a thorough understanding of sustainability in a professional kitchen.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

You will be assessed by way of observation and short answer question papers culminating with a synoptic assessment and the end of the course.

Entry requirements

Successful completion of the Level 2 course and GCSE English or maths at grade 4.

Your next steps...

Once you have completed the course you can progress onto Higher Education to study subjects such as Hospitality Management at degree level. You may look to start your career in the industry as a Brigade chef or join a Management training scheme in a hotels or global company in the industry.
